Petrol: Discount Codes

June 24, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

petrol gaugeWith UK petrol prices continuing to rise wouldn’t it be great if we could offer you some petrol discount codes? Well, we would if we could but we can’t - sorry!

Unfortunately, petrol is one of those physical items that you just can’t buy over the internet. So unless someone bright spark (oh, that’s dangerous, perhaps not) comes up with a way of selling bottled petrol online, how can you save money on your fuel?

Well, perhaps the next best thing is to use a petrol price comparison site - like the increasingly popular PetrolPrices.com ! It’s easy enough to use - you just enter your post code or town and it’ll show you the highest and lowest prices for that area. Create a free account to obtain price alerts, maps of cheap petrol stations and the like. For my own area on The Wirral it’s highlighting a 6p difference in price on a litre of petrol - that’s a bit of a difference and a good saving to be had!

Whatelse can you easily today do to reduce your fuel bill?

  • walk a bit more …for the Sunday papers etc
  • combine your journeys (this can save you quite a bit in my experience)
  • drive a bit slower (the Telegraph reported that more of us are!)
  • buy a cheap bike from here or here
  • car share on the school run etc

What other simple ideas do you have for our readers?
